From the Library of Congress, this is a rich gateway to exhibits and digitized primary source and archival materials related to American culture and history. 

 The site offers more than 7 million digital items from more than 100 historical collections. Includes texts, motion pictures, sound recordings, and photographs. Provides sections on African-American perspectives, the Civil War, Continental Congress documents, presidential portraits, vaudeville and popular entertainment, and women's suffrage.

Detailed multimedia presentations on significant historical events provide access to the highlights of the collections at the Library of Congress. The creation of this National Digital Library is a model for in-depth archival and historical presentations.

The Ad*Access Project presents images and database information for over 7,000 advertisements printed in U.S. and Canadian newspapers and magazines between 1911 and 1955. Ad*Access concentrates on five main subject areas: Radio, Television, Transportation, Beauty and Hygiene, and World War II, providing a coherent view of a number of major campaigns and companies through images preserved in one particular advertising collection available at Duke University.
